Manitowoc, WI

Florence A. Luebke, age 84, a Manitowoc resident, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Monday, October 8, 2012 with her family at her side. She was at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc following a brief illness.

Florence was born March 24, 1928, in Newton, daughter of the late Henry and Ella (Reichwald) Hochkammer. On September 17, 1946, she married Arthur C. Luebke in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2002. In the past, Florence worked as a telephone operator in Newton, at Stock Manufacturing in Newton, and as a waitress at Felician Village in Manitowoc. Arthur and Florence also owned and operated Luebke’s Clover Farm Store.

Florence volunteered for the Memoral Hospital and for the past 20 years volunteered for the Angel Association at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a true inspiration to all that knew her—her spirit and encouragement to those battling cancer was a gift she shared with all. She was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, the church’s Ladies Aid and the Sunshine Committee.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Kyle Sorensen. Florence’s favorite Bible verse was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phillippians 4:13

Alfred C. Hardrath , age 97, formerly of Center Road, Manitowoc, died on November 12, 2012, at River Wood Estates. He was born September 13, 1915, in the Town of Kossuth, Wisconsin, son of the late John and Olga (Rohrbach) Hardrath. He attended local grade schools and graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, WI.

In 1940, Alfred enlisted in the National Guard Infantry Company B, 32nd Division. He served overseas in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, receiving the Silver Star. On April 25, 1945, he married the former Ruth Treick in the Town of Newton. She preceded him in death February 8, 2010. Alfred was employed at the Manitowoc Knitting Mills and later as a rural mail carrier and a regular mail carrier for 28 years until his retirement in 1978. Alfred was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, and a member of the church Bible class. He was also a member of the Cleveland VFW Post #8974.

Rev. Kyle Sorensen conducted the funeral service.
