On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Heidelberg Theological Seminary, we want to thank all the supporters of the seminary for the prayers and support we have received in the past. Many changes have occurred in the life of the seminary. We are now established in a portion of the Trinity Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, have a full‑time professor, numerous adjunct professors, and have added distance learning to make it easier for some students to take advantage of what Heidelberg has to offer. Thankfully, the number of students both on campus and taking advantage of the distance learning has increased.
With growth, however, comes additional expense. We have found that the last few years we have suffered a $25,000 per year shortage. In the past we were able to cover this shortage from funds on hand, but that is no longer possible. As we approach the next school year, we must raise $25,000.
Therefore, this request is being sent to the churches of the denomination to consider HTS as a part of their benevolence giving and offerings conducted during the course of the year to assist in covering this shortfall. We also believe that in this day and age of high-priced seminaries, we provide an excellent education for our students at a reasonable cost.
At Heidelberg, we continue to believe that the Bible is God’s inspired Word, and tells us that pastors should train pastors. Students graduating from this seminary should not be burdened with huge, unmanageable debts. This generation has an obligation to train men who can preach the Gospel to the generations of the future.
Please continue to pray for the seminary and consider it for financial assistance.
